Finding the Right Drum Teacher in Chicago
Jamie Gallagher – Drum Teacher Chicago
Jamie Gallagher’s main focus as a teaching artist is to equip his students with essential learning tools that enable them to explore the music they appreciate the most.
He’s been a recording and nationally touring musician for almost two decades, has taught drumming for twenty years, and holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from North Central College.
Jamie currently enjoys freelancing with various groups, songwriters, and producers in and around the nation. He regularly collaborates and tours with Milwaukee based Americana ensemble, Dead Horses, and provides drumming support for Nicole Amine, Wyatt Waddell, Will Phalen, and Chicago based indie outfit, Discoveries of the American Scientific. He also drums with the classic country music quartet, Diamondback, legendary house band from the Chicago honky tonk, Carol’s Pub. Some other notable artists he’s worked with include Laura Joy (with Dave Gallagher on guitar), Andreas Kapsalis, Ezra Furman, Detroit Junior, and Megitza.
Throughout Jamie’s career, he’s adopted the philosophy that making great music with the drums requires a more simplistic approach. The ultimate goal is to produce many wonderful sounds using a few necessary instruments, and to creatively serve the music with a strong base in the fundamentals of drumming.
